Tennis Elbow Treatment at Physicians Rehabilitation
Physicians Rehabilitation is known for providing world-class care to patients with chronic knee and back pain, but did you know that we also help athletes with tennis elbow and other uncomfortable sports injuries? Our team includes board-certified orthopedic specialists who work with athletes of all sports and levels to help them overcome their symptoms and get back in the game. Tennis elbow may also affect people who frequently perform motions that utilize the tendons around the elbow, such as plumbers, carpenters, painters, and chefs.
What is tennis elbow?
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) occurs when the tendons in the outer portion of the elbow become overworked, often over the course of several months or years. These tendons allow the arm to straighten and raise. Repeated motions, such as those used in tennis and golf, can cause small tears to develop in the tendons, triggering pain that may make it difficult to perform everyday actions, such as:
- Hold a glass
- Turn a doorknob
- Shake hands
- Grip a baseball, tennis racket, or golf club
